Industrial Silencing
Noise pollution problems go together with many production processes. Environmental consideration due to noise disturbance, in particular for the neigboring households, is a major one. Hurll Nu-Way, in collaboration with QE, offers tailor-made solutions to reduce the excessive noise to acceptable levels, ensuring compliance with Australian Occupation National Noise Standards and guaranteeing noise levels achieved.

Diffusers |
| |
Control valves are often used to reduce the pressure in the gas or steam networks, which can lead to considerable levels of noise generation, up to 160 dBa. Strategically positioned diffuser will reduce the generated noise to acceptable levels bringing the system in compliance with Australian Occupational Noise National Standard. Noise attenuating diffusers require no maintenance and provide a cost effective solution to excessively generated noise. The system installation life span will be improved considerably as a result of minimising internal vibrations and changing harmful low frequency noise. Design, fabrication, inspection, testing, and certification of diffusers are in accordance with international requirements of ASME VIII Division 1 or EC Pressure Equipment Directive PED 97/23/EC.

Seperators |
| |
Separators play an important role in the effective removal of solid particles from gas and vapour streams. This in turn helps reduce maintenance costs and down-time on equipment and particle emission into the environment.
Some applications: Separators are used for the protection of equipment (such as turbines) against damage caused by particles or droplets; for the recirculation of condensate for steam applications; the recovery of chemical solids and precious materials.
Separators can be custom-designed to conform to various international pressure codes and to operate in extreme high or low temperatures.
These separators have no moving parts and are built to last – even in exposed locations.

Vent Silencers |
| |
Innumerable safety and control valves are used in petro-chemical, chemical and electricity power generating plants where steam, gas and other vapours are vented into the atmosphere. Opening of these valves is accompanied by extremely high levels of noise (up to 160 dB(A)). This is where the Vent Silencers play an important role in reducing noise pollution and eliminating the risk of operator hearing damage. The design features of QE Vent Silencers include diffusers and expansion chambers, where the pressure of the vapours is reduced to atmospheric pressure, and absorption section where sound energy is converted to friction heat. QE Vent Silencers are typically constructed with carbon and stainless steel, but higher alloy materials can also be provided for applications within high temperatures and corrosive environments.

In Line Dampeners |
| |
Noise is an unwanted by-product where regulating and control valves are used to control pressure in the process industries, such as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, steel working and electricity generation. This noise can lead to hearing damage and environmental disturbance, especially when valves operate during night hours. HNW offers specifically interposed in line dampeners which help constrict noise effectively. The in line dampeners comprise an inlet diffuser zone, expansion zone and acoustic absorption zone – all along a single axis. The dampener units are made from carbon steel components and the acoustic material from mineral wool fibres. Custom made units can be fabricated to meet specific requirements of a particular plant.
